From Tüfteln to Tüftlstuba
I have always enjoyed trying things out, finding solutions, and learning new things. In 2022, out of curiosity, I got my first 3D printer. At first, I mainly made practical things like mounts for routers and other devices.
Later, I discovered lithophanes – and was fascinated from the very beginning by the possibility of creating something truly special from a regular photo. In 2024, laser engraving was added to the mix, and a small CNC router provided yet another way to bring new ideas to life.
To this day, this very process of trying things out is an important part of Tüftlstuba. I enjoy developing new things and testing different ways to implement an idea as effectively as possible. For me, it is not just about making something work: especially with products that are to be manufactured multiple times later on, I try to develop the production process in such a way that a good and repeatable solution is created.
My son is also often involved. His enthusiasm for technology and new ideas means that we enjoy trying things out and discovering things together.
How Tüftlstuba Got Its Name
For a long time, I searched for a name that suited what I do. The right idea finally came from my wife: Tüftlstuba.
The name felt right to me from the very beginning. I enjoy tinkering, trying new things, and many of them are actually created at home in the "Stuba". My 3D printer is still located there today.
Over time, I also got a space in a workshop where a colleague took me in. My laser and CNC router are among the machines located there today. So Tüftlstuba now actually takes place in two locations – at home and in the workshop.
My Path to Tüftlstuba
Originally, I come from Simplon-Dorf in Valais. I completed my training as a multimedia electronics technician in Gampel. Afterwards, I moved to Arosa, where I have now called home for around 20 years.
For 18 years, I worked here for the same company as a multimedia electronics technician. Over time, I developed a desire for a change and to pursue my own ideas more strongly. In 2024, I finally founded Tüftlstuba.
Today, it combines many of the things that interest me: 3D printing, laser engraving, CNC machining, technology, and above all, the opportunity to turn an idea into something real.
What is Created in Tüftlstuba Today
In addition to my own products, I also manufacture custom customer requests and special-made items. These can be personalized gifts and lithophanes, but also engravings, signs, mounts, spare parts, prototypes, or completely new ideas.
Not everything can be implemented – but I also like to look at unusual requests and check what options are available.
Tüftlstuba is a one-man operation: From the inquiry and consultation to design and preparation, all the way to production, you deal directly with me.
Thanks to my many years of experience as a multimedia electronics technician, I also offer a multimedia service in Arosa and Schanfigg today.
